Our brother, Armando is down for a week or so. He said he would come down and help us out since he had some time off from his work. Wasn’t that nice of him. That’s one thing I love about our family, we are always there to help each other out and support each other.
Bonita must have told him how hard we had been working when she talked to him a couple weeks ago. He’s the oldest of all of us so he’s the type of big brother that’s always there to help our his younger siblings. Yeah, he’s a great brother.

This time last year, we were all so very worried here on the coast. People weren’t coming to the beach like they had done in years past so we have all been really worried about this year. Well I’m proud to announce that things are looking up.
No we’re not where we would normally be but it’s a whole lot better this year than last year, that’s for sure. Our crafts are selling a lot better than we expected so our days are long. They don’t end when the shop closes at all. Then we’re off to the house to work on more items to replace what sold that day. Makes for a long day but it’s all good.

It was the accepted practice in Babylon 4,000 years ago that for a month after the wedding, the bride’s father would supply his son-in-law with all the mead he could drink. Mead is a honey beer and because their calendar was lunar based, this period was called the honey month, which we know today as the honeymoon.

Many years ago in England , pub frequenters had a whistle baked into the rim, or handle, of their ceramic cups. When they needed a refill, they used the whistle to get some service. ‘Wet your whistle’ is the phrase inspired by this practice.

In the fall, Bonita and I try to make at least one trip to the Outer Banks. We both love it there because you are surrounded by the ocean as if on an island. I wonder if that has anything to do with being born in Cuba? Probably not because the Outer Banks are a place of peace and beauty unlike Cuba. If you ever get the chance, please visit the Outer Banks and I’m sure you’ll love it as much as we do.

In English pubs, ale is ordered by pints and quarts… So in old England , when customers got unruly, the bartender would yell at them ‘Mind your pints and quarts, and settle down.’ It’s where we get the phrase ‘mind your P’s and Q’s’
