My mother still cooks a lot of traditional Cuban dishes and one of my favorites is Arroz con Pollo.  I’m sorry, that’s chicken and rice in english just in case you didn’t know.  We still speak some spanish at home but mostly english as it should be.  We are all now American Citizens and very proud of that too.

I grew up in Northern Virginia.  I love it there.  That is my home.  I learned to be a typical American girl but do still hold on to my Cuban roots.  I’m just really happy that I got ‘transplanted’.  ;)   I don’t remember Cuba and most of what I know is learned from my father and what I see on TV or read on the Internet.  I hear from other Cubans too that remember how it is and was there.

I am a lucky girl.  I see that every time I hear or see something about Cuba.  Thank you America for welcoming me with open arms and allowing me the opportunity to be an independent woman.  I wouldn’t have been in Cuba.

Welcome! I was born in Havana, Cuba.  My Grandfather would tell my father about a free Cuba before Castro took it over.  It was a beautiful country with plenty of food, plenty of work and life was good but that all changed.

The only Cuba my father can remember is Castor’s Cuba.  From the pictures my father has, it is almost like going back in time here in America.  The cars are old; the people do without and have learned to be happy in spite of everything.

I love America and think I am very fortunate to have the family and friends that I do. This is my journal about my life and I invite you to visit my blog any time you like and I hope it will be often.  Thanks for stopping by.
